community leadership
I love Wyoming and the people who make it great. There is no place on earth that compares. This love for our state and its people has given me motivation to make a positive difference in the world.
Following more than twenty years in healthcare, I was the co-founder of Children’s Museum of Cheyenne, served as the Executive Director of the Downtown Development Authority, then ran for Mayor of Cheyenne in 2016, coming in second out of eleven candidates. After the campaign, I was appointed the Aeronautics Administrator for the State of Wyoming where I helped some amazing people secure funding for a new air service program in Wyoming and regain air service in Cheyenne.
I also have a long history of military service with more than eighteen years as an officer and health care provider in the Wyoming Army National Guard. In 2020, I transferred to the Army Reserves. I love the Army and my sisters and brothers whom I am so fortunate to serve with.
My amazing husband, Dan, and I owned Stitches Acute Care Center in Cheyenne, Laramie, and Wellington, CO. We merged with BestMed Urgent Care in 2020. We have been in the Urgent Care business since 2005 and strive to provide affordable, accessible healthcare to residents and visitors. We consider ourselves pioneers and industry leaders for telemedicine and affordable health care models such as offering memberships to patients. Our latest endeavor is Instaclinic. Through this virtual healthcare company, we offer Remote Patient Monitoring and Telemedicine.
Finally, I am an active mentor for entrepreneurs and women. Through endeavors such as Breakthrough 307, The Array School of Technology and Design, and Girls Who Code, I am determined to help others succeed.

motivationFamily is my first priority. As a wife and mother of four, I work hard for a better future for my children. Finding balance in parenting and the workplace is challenging! Sometimes I fail miserably, sometimes everything falls into place. It's important to keep trying and start with a clean page everyday. It's also important to be forgiving of yourself when things are difficult. There is no magic formula other than to keep moving forward.

let's have coffee
There is energy in connecting. I love learning from others and building relationships. In Wyoming, we do business face to face, over coffee (at least pre-COVID!). That's how we get things done. Send me an email if you'd like to connect! I'd love to meet with you virtually or go to coffee. Email: amy@amysurdam.com
